Professor Najmul Islam , Full Professor(tenured)

Professor Najmul Islam is the Head of the Software Engineering Department at LUT University, Finland. He conducts research in two closely connected programs: 1. Responsible, trustworthy, and lawful digital system design and development using blockchain and AI, and 2. Impacts of digital systems on individuals and organizations. Professor Islam’s publication has appeared in top Information Systems outlets, including the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, the European Journal of Information Systems, the Information Systems Journal, and Decision Support Systems. He has published in other highly ranked journals and conferences such as Computers & Security, IEEE Transaction on Industrial Informatics, Computers & Education, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, International Journal of Information Management, Information Technology & People, Computers in Human Behavior, Computers in Industry, Internet Research, Communications of the AIS, ACM CHI, ACM CSCW, ICIS, ECIS, HICSS, among others.

Dr. Prabhat Kumar , Assistant Professor(Tenure track)

Dr. Prabhat Kumar is an Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in the Department of Software Engineering at LUT University, Finland. He also serves as the Head of the Responsible Information Systems Development Master’s Program and holds the title of Docent in Artificial Intelligence for Cybersecurity. Dr. Kumar conducts research in two closely connected areas: 1. IoT and network security, focusing on AI- and blockchain-based approaches for secure and resilient systems; and 2. predictive analytics and software security, applying data analytics and natural language processing to cybersecurity challenges. His work has been published in leading venues such as IEEE Internet of Things Journal, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, ACM Transactions on Internet Technology, Computer Networks, Decision Support Systems, Computers & Security, Software: Practice and Experience, Information and software technolgy and major conferences including ICIS, HICSS, IEEE ICC, ACM MobiCom, and IEEE GLOBECOM.

Dr. Saddam Mukta, Post-doctoral researcher

Dr. Saddam Mukta is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Software Engineering at LUT University, Finland. He received his Ph.D. from the Data Science and Engineering Research Lab (DataLab) at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2018. His research interests include social network analysis and mining, social computing, data mining, and machine learning. His work has been published in leading journals such as ACM Computing Surveys, Decision Analytics Journal, Journal of Medical Internet Research, ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems, IEEE Access, as well as at top-tier conferences such as AAAI, ICIS, CSCW, and HICSS.

Ankit Agrawal, Researcher

Dr. Ankit Agrawal is a Project Researcher at the Department of Software Engineering, LUT University, Finland. He received his Ph.D. from BITS Pilani, Pilani Campus, under the supervision of Prof. Ashutosh Bhatia. His research focuses on blockchain, artificial intelligence, security, and privacy, with an emphasis on privacy-preserving systems and decentralized technologies. He has developed strong expertise in addressing challenges related to trust, data security, and system integrity in modern digital environments. His work aims to address real-world problems at the intersection of security, privacy, and emerging technologies, contributing to the development of secure, trustworthy, and scalable systems.

Md Raihan Uddin, Junior Researcher

Md Raihan Uddin is a Junior Researcher and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Software Engineering at LUT University, Finland. He received his Master of Science degree in Software Engineering from LUT University, where he previously worked as a Junior Research Assistant. His research centers on developing frameworks and algorithms to enhance the efficiency, security, and privacy of distributed and decentralized smart infrastructures. He actively explores novel approaches in reinforcement learning, federated learning, and large language models (LLMs) to solve complex challenges in intelligent and secure system design. In addition to theoretical work, he collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to implement and evaluate these technologies, contributing to publications in reputable international journals and conferences. His research interests further include scalable architectures for edge computing, privacy-preserving data sharing, and adaptive system optimization.

Gauri Shankar, Junior Researcher

Gauri Shankar has received his master’s degree in computer science and technology (Cyber Security) from the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the Central University of Punjab, India. He served as assistant professor in department of computer science and engineering, Chandigarh University, Punjab. Thereafter he was JRF in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at NIT Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. At present he is working as a junior researcher at the Software Engineering Department, LUT School of Engineering Sciences, Lappeenranta, Finland. He has His current research is focused on blockchain technology and federated learning in security and privacy enhancement for decentralized and distributed systems, which also include the real-time implementation of IoT.

Yuanjun Zhang, Junior Researcher

Yuanjun Zhang is a Junior Researcher at the Department of Software Engineering, LUT University, Finland. He received his Master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering (AI track) from the University of Oulu, Finland, where he previously worked as a Research Assistant. His research focuses on large language models (LLMs), multimodal LLMs, multi-agent systems and preference optimization. At present, he is working on LLM4SE, particularly on fault localization, automated program repair, and cost-aware/budget-aware agentic coding.

Revathi Karri, Junior Researcher

Revathi Karri is a Junior Researcher and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Software Engineering at LUT University, Finland. She received her Master of Science degree in Software Engineering from LUT University. Her research focuses on software security and secure coding practices, with an emphasis on leveraging graph neural networks and large language models (LLMs) to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in software systems. Her work aims to develop intelligent and automated approaches for improving code security and reliability in modern software development environments.
